La historia sigue a Uriel, un artista contemporáneo en decadencia, consumido por el agotamiento creativo. En un barrio donde un Niño Dios milagroso es venerado con fervor, Uriel roba la figura en un acto imprudente impulsado por el ego. Vive con La More, la mujer indígena que lo crió y que reza por sus hijes migrantes, lejos, y explota tanto a ella como al ícono sagrado como material para su nueva obra: La Mentira más Cruel.

SANTO is the first feature film by the new performing arts production company founded by Fernando and Mariana Azcárate, where Fernando is both co-producer and lead actor.
The story follows Uriel, a fading contemporary artist consumed by creative exhaustion. In a neighborhood where a miraculous Niño Dios is fervently worshipped, he steals the figure in a reckless act driven by ego. Living with La More — the Indigenous woman who raised him and prays for her faraway migrant children — Uriel exploits both her and the sacred icon as material for his new artwork: La Mentira más Cruel (The Cruelest Lie).
Set in the everyday Mexico where privilege and struggle coexist, SANTO questions class, power, faith, and the limits of artistic legitimacy: When does art cross the line into harm?
